Fast Facts about Ann Arbor Academy:

  • Established in 1997 by parents whose children had not had success in a traditional educational environment

  • We are accredited, and we grant diplomas to our students who complete our high school curriculum

  • Approximately 1/3 of our students have a language based learning disability (such as dyslexia)

  • Approximately 1/3 of our students have AD/HD (with and without hyperactivity)

  • Approximately 1/3 of our students have high functioning autism spectrum disorder

  • We always have several students who do not fit into one of the above categories, but whose learning needs are met by our school environment

  • Our curriculum was designed for students with average to above average intelligence who are not able to learn and succeed in a traditional school environment, but we often have a few students with below average IQ as well, because our program is flexible and can be adapted to fit a range of student learning needs

  • We have graduated over 100 students since 2001, and have had hundreds more students who came to us for a few years, then transferred to a larger school

  • Approximately 85% of our graduates continue on to college

  • The remaining 15% of graduates enter some form of post secondary training or job development program

  • We do not offer transportation, but we work with families to find carpools and other transportation options

  • Our focus on identifying and remediating executive functioning difficulties makes us unique, and allows us to successfully educate students with many different learning needs

  • Tuition is $18,850, and approximately 30% of our students receive need based financial aid, up to 75% of their tuition
